The Different Strokes Golf Association, DSGA, is a DFW based golf league that organizes fun and competitive golf events for gay and lesbian golfers of all skill levels. DSGA was started in 1997 and boasts over 100 golfers.  Our league provides a friendly social gathering point for gay and lesbian persons who enjoy golf.  Persons of all ability are welcome.  All gatherings will be structured so that all levels that want to may compete.  DSGA also organizes social events such as pool parties and 19th hole socials.  We also raise funds for various social service organizations serving the gay and lesbian community.  We are registered with the Texas Golf Association.

We schedule golf outings about twice a month March thru October. You don't have to be a member to "come out" and play. Just sign up as a guest and see how you like it.

Membership is open to all that enjoy the game of golf.  Membership gives you access to the members list, handicap system (GHIN) and an excuse to play more golf!  Once a member, you are signed up to receive league emails.  At the end of the season, the league hosts its 2-day club championship known as the Texas Shootout.

Winter Time for Your Clubs

- Don't leave your clubs in your car. The frigid temps can dry out your grips and take the bounce out of your golf balls.

-Regrip your clubs!  You should regrip your clubs once a year and clean your grips every few months to keep them sticky!

-Replace the cleats on your shoes.

-Clean out your bag.  Restock with new gloves and balls.

From 75, exit Knox Henderson.  West on Knox until it dead ends into Abbott.  Left (South) on Abbott to Edgewater.  House is big and white at the corner of Glenwood and Edgewater.  Use Black door on Glenwood.

South to Wycliff.  Stay on Wycliff as it changes names (at times it is Avondale, Douglas and Fitzhugh)  After it passes Turtle Creek, take the second left onto Abbott.  (If you go under the KATY Trail, you went to far. )  Second left on to Edgewater.  House is big and white at the corner of Glenwood and Edgewater.  Use Black door on Glenwood.

Membership Dues 2010

The membership dues for 2010 are $30, for GHIN access- $15, and to participate in the hole-in-one club-$5.  You may write one check for the total amount.

REMEMBER- you will not have access to Golf Herd to sign up for events until we receive your dues.

GHIN-

We must renew our club's GHIN handicap accounts by Feb 25.  If you would like your GHIN account to remain active (and thus be able to enter new scores and obtain an updated handicap index), please send in your additional GHIN payment ($15) as a part of your dues remission by the Feb 25.  If you would like to start GHIN handicap tracking, also just include this payment in your dues.  We can activate your GHIN account 'on demand' later in the year, but it makes things a whole lot easier if we get all the accounting squared away by the 25th.  NOTE - New for 2010 - GHIN will revise handicaps bi-monthly (on the 1st and 15th of every month) instead of once every 30 days.

 

Hosts-

We need members to host golf events for 2010.  DSGA is a host-driven league.  As the host you decide where to play, the green fees, the tee times, and format and prizes (prizes are not mandatory).  If you would like to host or have any questions, please ask a board member.
